    Session summary:

Many HR professionals struggle with employees who can’t or won’t put the organization’s needs before their own, particularly with regard to working as a team and keeping relationships intact. The “Don’t Break the Rope” approach to teamwork development uses a storytelling technique to get teammates to see that some friction is natural and that tolerance and adaptability are necessary.  In controlled environments or with volunteers, the technique begins with personality assessment tools such as StrengthQuest or simplified self-assessments. It then encourages participants to self-identify with various characters in the “Don’t Break the Rope” workplace-stories book. In the full curriculum interactive sessions cover 23 different teamwork lessons.  In shorter sessions, task vs. relationship orientations are explored, including communication styles and adaptive behavior techniques.
