    The 35th annual Labor-Management Conference, hosted by the Department of Employment and Labor Relations on Friday, April 8, 2016, is designed to assist professionals in both private sector and public sector work environment.  Panel sessions will cover current issues and updates useful to managers, attorneys, human resource professionals, and anyone whose work includes labor relations.  Join us for an informative and interactive day of professional development. 

    The 2016 theme is “Achieving a Competitive Edge in 2016:  Fresh Perspectives on Human Resource Challenges”, and the sessions are designed to provide professionals from both union-organized and other work environments.  This conference is designed for any professional whose responsibilities include human resource management, or whose organizational goals include fostering productive workplace relationships. 

    This conference has an established tradition of offering important updates on recent legal issues and related rulings, healthcare reform, employee and employer rights, collective bargaining, and other private sector and public sector workplace initiatives.

    Conference Details:

    The conference will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and includes: 

    • Registration:       7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. (Continental breakfast provided)
    • Session 1:  “Achieving Multicultural Competence in Our Communities” (Dr. Pablo Mendoza, Assistant to the President for Social Equity, IUP)
    • Session 2:  National Labor Relations Board – District 6 (Patricia Daum, Region 6 Supervisory Field Attorney and Neil Segucio, Pathwasy Intern for District 6 NLRB (Pittsburgh)
    • Session 3:  “Who’s Suing Whom?  Employee Rights in the Public Sector (Ms. Patricia Andrews, Andrews & Price)
    • Session 4:  “The New ‘Gig’ Economy – is It Reshaping the Generation X Workforce?” (Dr. Scott E. Decker and Dr. Deborah Clawson, ELR Department, session facilitators)
